New TV show time is always a wonderful time. I love TV, therefor I watch a lot of it and have exhausted most of my options for what series to watch a while ago. New TV time is where it makes my decision easy!.. The Orville is what appears to be a spoof of Star Trek made by Seth MacFarlane, with stupid jokes and a plot that never quite sticks because it is unimportant. Right? Wrong! The Orville is a fantastic homage to Star Trek with just enough “wink-wink, nudge-nudge” to be humorous and enough sincerity to be its own spectacular show…The best way I can describe The Orville is a more real Star Trek. How? I feel like what happens in The Orville would happen on the Enterprise and they just don’t show it. Jokes on the bridge, drama and relationships on the ship, boring jobs, it all makes it feel more real while keeping the drama and the stakes of the show at the forefront… The actors are also spectacular, Seth MacFarlane basically made his childhood dream come true and gave himself the role of Captain Ed Mercer  and delivers some of the best acting in his career, unsurprisingly. Countering him as his first officer is Kelly, played by Adrianne Palicki, you may know her as Tyra from Friday Night Lights. There is a rather large cast that I won’t get in to but every one of them is fleshed out with their own unique backstory and usually episodes to make you care… The Orville blew my expectations out of the water, delivering something I never thought I would see by Seth Macfarlane. I will watch this show for as many seasons as Fox will keep it.

Star Trek: Discovery Comic-Con trailer review

I have watched a lot of Comic-Con trailers today and it feels very weird to say that this is the best one out of them all. I have goosebumps from watching this! It feels like I am watch a movie trailer here, not a CBS TV show trailer in any capacity. On top of that, it feels like nothing I have ever seen before. There is so much Star Trek material already in the world already, TV show and movie alike. This feels and looks like none of it. It’s dark and gritty, it feels powerful and large… Some will say that it is too unfaithful from the original and I say that is okay. The old Star Trek was powerful and large for its time, but it would not work today. THIS is powerful and large and has the capacity to inspire a generation like the ones before it. I believe.

Star Trek Beyond trailer review

I probably sound like an upset parent, but I am VERY disappointed in this! I know JJ is busy with Star Wars, but couldn’t you have gotten a better director? This looks and feels like a futuristic Fast and Furious because of it. And although I do love the Beastie Boys, it is kind of cheating using their song again. On top of that, the ship crashes?! I want more space battles! I’m glad you are finally “treking” but, I want this to be futuristic… On the upside I liked the scene with all the crew members being filed along, and I’m curious to who these aliens are. The trailer didn’t make me care about the main girl alien at all though. In case you can’t tell, I’m not very excited for this at this point.
