The Star wars series is by far the most important series to never spoil in a review, therefore making a review INCREDIBLY difficult to do. But, I’m also going to do my first ever spoiler talk on The Last Jedi! So let’s talk about the one thing everyone wants to know. Did I like it and was it good? Yes to both. It’s that simple. A lot of people I talked to have expressed their dissatification with this film and to me it was just because it wasn’t what anyone expected. Without spoiling anything I’ll say that many things we found to be important were revealed to be nothing. Some almost instantly. That’s not necessarily a bad thing though. The Star Wars saga has, in my opinion at least, become incredibly predictable. Seeing this new direction was incredibly refreshing… Now, the bad. There isn’t a lot of bad, but what was bad to me was huge. There is a whole subplot in this movie I found to be completely pointless and really took me out of it, just wanting to get back to the good parts. You’ll know it when you see it. Besides that I didn’t really agree with certain directions of characters. Other than that there’s not much I can say except overall I absolutely loved this movie. If I really think about it, the whole film is essentially a chase sequence and that just makes it more impressive… Ill go into greater depth in my spoiler article, but I can tell you right now its in my top three in the Star Wars saga.
First off, let me just point out what a beautiful poster that is and how well it resembles and portrays the trailer (and hopefully the movie as well). The use of so much red with a slight amount of blue. The dark with a speckle of light. The good coming through all the evil… Truly beautiful… Anyway, what a fucking awesome trailer, am I right? Whoever they have had making their trailers these last few years deserves another raise! This trailer asks so many more questions than I already had, and answers nothing. Does Kylo Ren kill Leia? Does Rey turn to the dark side? Does she turn to the dark side after Luke abandons her? Anakin was raised light and went dark, Kylo is raised dark so does he go light?… There is so much in the trailer that ignites the nostalgic nerd within me! The AT-AT’s, the Falcon, X wings, storm troopers, or even just the sound of a lightsaber give me goosebumps. But, beyond all that they are showing us more creatures, and technology, and more of this universe that already has generations of lore behind it… The Force Awakens was the resurgence of the Star Wars saga and I feel that this movie will be what revives the feeling the originals gave us all. What a powerful trailer.
This trailer doesn’t even feel like a Star Wars film, and I find that to be a damn good thing! Rogue One, at least from this trailer, looks to be darker and grittier. The force doesn’t seem to be very present in this… It seems more like a David and Goliath war movie, almost a Saving Private Ryan in space. Now, everyone seems to be getting their panties in a bunch over another female protagonist. Shut the fuck up! We had SIX movies with a male and she looks bad ass!.. Anyway… The tone of this is great and though no one seemed to like the alarm, I liked it. I found mixing the alarm with the Inception horn got my blood pumping… Everyone knows we are going to go see this. It is a Star Wars spin off. It has Ip Man with a stick, Star Wars, Alan Tudyk, Star Wars, an AT-AT that looks awesome, Star Wars, MAYBE Darth Vader, Star Wars… We are really getting spoiled lately.
When I first saw this movie I was a young child and awe struck by how amazing it was. Today, though I realize now that it has its faults, I still defend this movie whenever possible. Star Wars follows Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan on a convoluted adventure sprung forward by coincidence. Tagging along are Padme, Jar Jar, and Anakin (AKA past Darth Vader). Now, I will concede that Jar Jar is a terrible character, the plot is all coincidental, and medichlorians are fucking stupid. BUT, this is not a bad movie. It is an alright movie that couldn’t live up to one of the highest regarded series of all time. The Dual of the Fates lightsaber battle and score are the best of all the prequels. Pod racing is amazing. This is the best movie for Padme by far. Darth Maul is the best villain in the prequels, and Qui-Gon is a great character. No, it is not a GREAT movie, but it is also not a TERRIBLE movie.
For months we have been teased relentlessly. We have speculated, made thousands of videos and wrote even more articles. We have watched, and re-watched every trailer, and every movie. Now, the wait is over… There has been an awakening… Star Wars Episode SEVEN! The day has come and I can hardly handle my excitement! Unfortunately I had to wait two days to see the epic new movie. For those of you reading this review, do not worry, I never spoil! Some people though are not as kind, but somehow I managed to avoid almost all spoilers. I did have one big thing spoiled for me, but I saw that coming (and so will you). Anyway, the movie… The Force Awakens is the the seventh movie in the amazing Star Wars saga. This movie takes place after the events of Return of the Jedi. One thing I was excited yet worried about was the including of Luke, Han, and Leia. I was concerned that they would either be in it too much, or mere cameos. I felt all the roles were done perfectly though! Especially Han. Han Solo was at the front of this movie along with our new protagonists Rey, and Fin. Rey and Fin are great, introducing new main characters to series such as this is difficult. In the prequels we followed young characters of people we already new. I feel like this is done well though. The instant chemistry between Poe and Finn is great too. Now, lets talk about my favorite part of this whole movie, and MAYBE even franchise. Kylo Ren. I still stick to my guns that Kilgrave is the best villain ever, but I will now stick to my guns that Kylo Ren is the best Star Wars villain ever. I can’t tell you much, sadly, but Kylo Ren has two big reveals in this movie. One I loved from the start. The other, I grew to love as I saw him more and more. I know people will say Darth Vader is the best, but you will see why Kylo Ren is ten times scarier. To wrap up I loved this. On top of everything I said the music was fantastic, the ending light saber battle was the best of the series, the little jokes hit well, and the cameos were great. I don’t rate movies, but know I will see this many times in theaters.
It has been well over a month now since my last trailer review because of my absence. Given that trailer reviews need to be timely from their release, I couldn’t exactly schedule any. BUT, since I’m back what better trailer to review than the one that crashed the internet?! Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens is probably the most anticipated movie of the last decade (step aside Avengers). Obviously, the people that put trailers together had quite a task on their shoulders! Well give these people a fucking promotion because they did it perfectly! This trailer shows so much, yet I know so little about this movie. It is visually stunning, giving you small peaks of action, new characters, old characters, and things that COULD be important but you don’t quite know. Which is exactly what you want out of a trailer! I can tell you almost nothing about this movie. I have no idea the story line, who is good, who is bad. Nothing. Yet, I am more excited by this trailer than any I have ever seen… This is going to be a damn good Christmas.
I was lucky enough to go see the final good Star Wars movie in theaters the other day, seeing what many people my age will never have an opportunity to see. Return of the Jedi, though in my personal opinion is not as good as Empire Strikes Back, is an amazing movie. RotJ follows Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Princess Leia in their attempt to kill Darth Vader once and for all and destroy the new death star before it is finished. From the start of this movie the crowd was cheering and quoting, I even was able to a few times. I was unable to take my eyes away. Princess Leia proved to be a very valuable part of the team, showing major growth from the first one. Luke finally become who he was meant to be. Last but not least, Han Solo was more bad-ass than ever before! I don’t know what to say except that 30+ years later and this movie holds up, we all know that, if you don’t just watch it already.
PS. The Jabba-palace-song-scene is now officially my favorite scene from any movie ever.
A game review! Weird, right? I pretty much just review whatever type of entertainment I am using currently. Right now, It’s The West wing, which I already reviewed. This game, which I’m doing now. And An Abundance Of Katherine’s, expect that in the future! Star Wars The Old Republic, or SWTOR, is an MMO game made by Bioware in the Star Wars universe. I played KOTOR briefly a long time ago, but I was always a big fan of three things. World of Warcraft, Star Wars, and Bioware games. They all combined! The amazing thing about Bioware games is that the story is so great, you decide the ending, and feel that your actions and conversations matter. This game is absolutely the same in that sense, and I love it. The problem is though, is that it’s an MMO. MMO’s are all about the end game, and interacting with other players. Sure I had more fun getting to the end game than any other MMO, but that is where the fun slowed down a lot. I just went back and made a new character. I played a little bit of every character, but I loved two of them. The sith warrior, and the smuggler! I could write a 9 page review just on the different characters, but I can’t. So, I will just say this, every single character is awesome in their own awesome way. No matter what you choose, you will have a great time. In the end it is a great game, but a bad MMO.
